We love a well accessorized high school senior. But, sometimes accessorizing is a problem for some people when it comes to picking the right necklace for the right outfit. I recently stumbled on this neckline guide from www.charmingcharlie.com and thought I would share and add some of my own thoughts.

As you are putting together the outfits for your senior photos, keep in mind that a good accessory might be the perfect way to pull the outfit together. For that reason, we LOVE necklaces. It doesn't matter if you are the statement necklace type or you like the more simple pieces, finding the right necklace for your neckline can sometimes be a challenge.

Here are some basic tips:

V - Necks - V-Necks often draw the attention down to your chest, so you will want to pair it with a necklace that is a bit higher to draw the eye back up to your face.

Turtle Necks - Almost anything can go with a turtleneck, however, we usually don't recommend turtle necks for photos shoots unless you have a long neck to begin with. Otherwise a turtleneck will make your neck look shorter in your photos.

Scoop Necks - We generally encourage you to wear something either mid-chest or longer with this neckline.

Boat Necks - Long necklaces are the best for this. Shorter necklaces tend to interfere with the neckline.

Square Necks - These can be tricky! We recommend nothing to angular or geometric. Sometimes just a nice short necklace, a choker or some pearls will pull this one together!

Cowl Necks - These necklines can look bulky and dramatic, so we recommend smaller more simple pieces.

Strapless - This one can also be a bit tricky. Heavier chocker pieces, layered longer pieces or a short necklace can be perfect for this. Just makes sure that it "works" with the rest of the outfit.

Round Necks - These are one of the easiest! If the neckline is high, go for longer pieces, if the neckline is low go for shorter pieces. We tend toward pieces that are round to sort of mirror the neckline.

Button Down Shirts - Longer necklaces here with give you a more whimsical look, but a nice short necklace will give you a polished clean look.

Button Up Shirt - Pick something that sits high on the collar or sits close to the neck.

We hope this helps you as you get ready for your senior photos. We encourage all of our seniors to send us pictures of their outfits if they have any questions, or swing by our studio in Hoover, AL. This wasy we can help you pick out accessories and make any changes. Your senior pictures are important so we want to nail them!
